Verifying insurance coverage

It’s HIGHLY encouraged that you reach out directly to your insurance company to confirm that both Headway and I are both in-network with your specific insurance plan to better determine what your plan covers and what you’ll need to pay for sessions when using Headway. To do this, you’ll need to call your insurance company’s member services or customer service number; you can locate this on the back of your insurance card.

Why is this encouraged?

You, the insured, are responsible for understanding your insurance coverage. No billing company can exactly determine your benefits, although Headway provides their ‘Best Estimate’ through an auto-verification system. After claims are filed to your insurance, the fees could change should Headway learn more information about your benefits. We want to avoid any issues at all cost, which is why I strongly encourage you reach out to your insurance and follow the steps below. Should issues arise, I will do my absolute best to work with you and Headway towards resolution, although it’s important to understand that you are responsible for all fees.

01
Make the call to insurance

What you’ll need:

  1. Your insurance card (they’ll ask for your member ID and date of birth)

  2. Headway’s group name:

New York Medical Behavioral Health Services, P.C.

  3. Headway’s Tax ID Number (TIN) & National Provider Identifier (NPI):

    TIN - 832675429

    NPI- 1235600834

  4. Headway’s Address:

6701 Democracy Blvd. Suite 300, Bethesda, MD 20817

  5. Therapist Name: Catherine Cabrera

  6. Therapist NPI: 1720660012

02
Ask Insurance the following:

  • “Can you please verify that the provider group Headway and the therapist under the Headway group are both in network with my plan? I have the provider group’s name (Headway), NPI, Tax ID number, and address, and the therapist’s name and NPI. This therapist works with several provider groups similar to Headway, so it’s important you are looking for her as being in network with Headway.”

  • Then ask “Can you please verify my cost for the following CPT codes: 90871, 90837, 90834” (these are the codes I will use to identify the type of therapy service you received at each session)

  • From there, the representative should ask for everything they need to verify if both Headway and I are in network with your plan and what your benefits are.

before hanging up!

Be sure to get your call reference number from the agent.

The call reference number helps the Headway team, should they need to reach back out to your insurance carrier.

Good Faith Estimate (GFE)

Clients of Inner Strength Counseling, have the right to receive a financial estimate explaining how much your mental health services cost.

Effective January 1, 2022, all state-licensed or certified health care providers in the United States are required to give a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of healthcare charges to every new and continuing client who is either uninsured or is not planning to submit a claim to their insurance for the healthcare services they seek.

Clients of Inner Strength Counseling have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one (1) day before they receive their health service or product to ensure there are "no surprises" in the cost of their care. Clients are encouraged to save these statements for future reference, particularly if they receive a bill that is at least $400 more than the Good Faith Estimate that was provided so that such overages can be disputed.

For questions or for more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
